title: SSO & licensing
description: Set LICENSE_KEY to unlock Enterprise features such as SSO on your self-hosted ClassroomIO.
---
Enterprise-only features — **SSO**, **token auth**, and no-tracking mode — require an Enterprise
**license key**. If you don't use any Enterprise feature, you don't need a key; leave `LICENSE_KEY`
unset and everything else works.
## Setting `LICENSE_KEY`
`LICENSE_KEY` is read by the **api** service. Set it wherever that service takes its environment:
| Deployment | Where to set it |
|------------|-----------------|
| Local development | `apps/api/.env` |
| Docker Compose | repository root `.env` |
| Railway | the `cio-api` service environment |
| Coolify | the resource's environment variables |
```zsh title=".env"
LICENSE_KEY=<your enterprise license key>
```
## Getting a license
[Book a call](http://cal.com/classroomio/enterprise) to get an Enterprise license key.
## Feature docs
Once the key is set, configure the features themselves:
- [Enterprise SSO](/enterprise-sso) — Single Sign-On with OIDC (Okta, Azure AD, and more).
- [Token Auth](/token-auth) — issue signed tokens to log users in from your own app.
