Rotimi BestandRotimi Best 55ae6dd4fe feat(dashboard): improve student course sidebar navigation (#814)
* docs(prototypes): add course sidebar navigation HTML prototypes

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* docs(prototypes): add downloadable zip for course sidebar mockups

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* feat(dashboard): improve student course sidebar navigation

Collapse all sections except the active one for students, show section
completion as counts (e.g. 3/4), and replace the footer progress card with
prev/next controls plus a thin progress bar.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(dashboard): address PR review and remove sidebar prototypes

Remove HTML prototype files from the PR. Match content IDs as exact path
segments for active-item resolution, and use content-neutral prev/next labels.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(dashboard): keep ClassroomIO brand untranslated in powered-by footer

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(dashboard): restore progress summary in course sidebar footer

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(dashboard): move progress bar below summary in sidebar footer

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* feat(course): add mobile student bottom nav with outline sheet

Implement prototype 3 mobile navigation for course learners: a fixed
bottom bar with progress ring, prev/next controls, and a sheet showing
the progress card plus collapsible course outline with scroll-to-active.

Extends public-course UI primitives (ring bottom nav, collapsible
sidebar sections, mobile sheet progress slot) and wires them into the
authenticated course layout for isCourseLearnerView on lesson/exercise
routes. Hides duplicate header prev/next and progress popover on mobile.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(course): address review feedback and exclude prototypes

- Add .coderabbit.yaml and .greptile/config.json to skip prototypes/**
- Document prototypes/ as out-of-scope in AGENTS.md and Greptile rules
- Render locked mobile outline rows without href navigation targets
- Replace nested IconButton in collapsible section trigger with chevron icon
- Reset public-course sidebar section collapse on every mobile sheet reopen

Rotimi BestandRotimi Best 4cd2f5f295 fix(dashboard): open upgrade modal without triggering unsaved-changes prompt (#919)
* fix(dashboard): open the upgrade modal without navigating

Opening the upgrade modal set `?upgrade=true` via `goto`, which SvelteKit treats
as a navigation. On pages guarded by UnsavedChanges (the exercise editor, course
settings, certificates) that triggered the native "You have unsaved changes"
confirm before the modal could appear, and cancelling blocked it entirely.

The modal now lives in app state instead of the URL, so opening and closing it
never navigates. `?upgrade=true` is still honoured for billing emails and the
post-checkout return URL: it is consumed once on load and stripped from the
address bar with shallow routing.

Because checkout is an external redirect that unloads the page, editors can
register a handoff to persist in-progress work first. The exercise editor stashes
its draft, and the checkout return URL now points back at the page the user
upgraded from, so their questions are restored instead of lost.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(dashboard): close question type select before opening upgrade modal

The select dropdown sits at z-250 while the upgrade dialog is z-200, so
opening the modal while the menu was still mounted left it covering the
dialog. Close the select first, wait for its close animation, then open
the upgrade modal.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(dashboard): close question-type select before opening upgrade modal

The premium-type button left the select open, and its z-menu-elevated
content sat in front of the upgrade dialog. Close the select first and
wait for the close animation before opening the modal.

20e34e29dd feat(exercise): add open-ended thumbs up/down question type (#780)
* feat(ui): add THUMBS question type renderer

- Add seven new renderer files under renderers/thumbs/:
  thumbs-correct.ts, take.svelte, edit.svelte, preview.svelte,
  thumbs-review-toggle.svelte, review.svelte, submission.svelte
- Register THUMBS in renderer-contract.ts with edit/take/preview/submission/review
- Export ThumbsEdit, ThumbsTake, ThumbsPreview, ThumbsSubmission,
  ThumbsReview from exercise-question/index.ts
- Add THUMBS_FIXTURE, four thumbs label keys, and Thumbs story
  in storybook exercise-question files
- Add THUMBS case to question-type-modes.svelte submission builder

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* feat(question-types): add THUMBS contracts, scoring, and seed

Introduce the THUMBS question type (id 14) with boolean answer data,
codec, auto-grading, Zod validation, DB seed/schema docs, and binary
normalize support shared with TRUE_FALSE. Dashboard wiring is deferred.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* feat(dashboard): wire THUMBS question type into exercise UI

Connect THUMBS option sync in edit/view modes, labels, picker icon,
and locale strings so the existing contracts surface in the dashboard.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(ui): polish thumbs question UI and move premium upgrade icon

Widen thumbs Yes/No toggles, inherit selected icon color via custom class,
replace badge-based review correctness with solid fill states and bare
Check/X icons, add a success pill in preview, and place the premium
upgrade icon at the end of the question type select row.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(ui): align thumbs review colors with prototypes

Tune correct/incorrect selected states so review buttons use dark
emerald/red content colors on solid fills, matching the design comps.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(ui): address remaining PR review comments

Use a shared timestamp local in thumbs edit fallback options.
Move border-beam animation-delay after the animation shorthand.
Alias --spacing to --ui-spacing for tw-animate compatibility.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(db): sync question_type sequence before seeding new types

Avoid duplicate key errors when question_type_id_seq lags behind rows
inserted via restore or explicit ids (e.g. THUMBS on restored databases).

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(exercise): resolve thumbs review label ICU crash

Remove {value} ICU placeholder from thumbs.review.correct_answer_label
since labels are resolved at map-build time without context. Append the
dynamic yes/no label in thumbs-review-toggle instead.

Also bind question points through the questionnaire store index to avoid
the Svelte non-reactive property binding warning in edit-mode.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* docs(agent): add THUMBS guidance and sync question type docs

Add shared agent question-type guide helpers in @cio/question-types and
use them across the teacher prompt, add/update_questions tool schemas,
legacy ai-assistant schemas, and MCP exercise tools.

- Document when to use THUMBS (Yes/No sentiment) vs TRUE_FALSE (factual)
- Fix stale MCP question type ids and add THUMBS=14
- Exclude disabled MATCHING/HOTSPOT from enabled type lists

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(thumbs): clarify auto-grading and add editable option labels

THUMBS is auto-graded like TRUE_FALSE; the difference is thumbs UI with
customizable Yes/No-style labels and the teacher selecting the correct
option. Render take/preview/review from question.options labels and add
label inputs in the thumbs edit renderer. Update agent and MCP docs to
stop implying THUMBS is manual or non-gradable.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* chore(mcp): bump version to 0.0.10

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(question-types): make THUMBS open-ended with no correct answer

THUMBS is a sentiment/poll question type, not an auto-graded binary like
TRUE_FALSE. Remove correct-answer UI, scoring, and validation; update agent
and MCP docs accordingly.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(dashboard): stop treating THUMBS as auto-graded in editor validation

Normalize thumbs questions on load/save, show an Open-ended badge instead
of Auto, and only enforce points/correct-answer rules on auto-gradable types.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* revert(dashboard): remove unsolicited open-ended grading badge

THUMBS uses the existing Manual badge like other non-auto-gradable types.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(exercise): show question title validation errors in editor

Display mapped title errors beneath the question title input instead of
only highlighting the question card border. Pass the exercise entity to
mapZodErrorsToTranslations so messages resolve to validations.exercise.*
keys, and use a translated snackbar key for save validation failures.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(mcp): build workspace deps before MCP publish bundle

The MCP esbuild step imports @cio/question-types and @cio/utils dist
outputs. CI failed on a clean checkout because mcp:build only built the
MCP package itself. Build those dependencies first so 0.0.10 can publish.

Rotimi BestandRotimi Best bfafc685e0 fix(exercise): persist completion policy and improve dev build workflow (#754)
* fix(exercise): persist completion policy and pass threshold on save

buildExerciseUpdateFields accepted completionPolicy and passThreshold in
the validation schema but never mapped them to the database update, so
exercise settings appeared to save while reverting on refresh.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(db): build workspace deps before compiling

@cio/db imports @cio/utils/notifications, which only exists after
@cio/utils is built. Building db in isolation failed when utils dist
was missing or stale.

- Add a db prebuild step for question-types, utils, and email
- Clean dist and tsbuildinfo before utils and email builds so
incremental tsc cannot skip emission after dist was removed

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* chore(dev): build api workspace deps before api:dev

Run turbo build for @cio/api and @cio/jobs-worker dependencies before
starting the dev servers, so missing dist/ folders do not break startup.

0836d9b5bb refactor(z-index): introduce a shared named z-index scale (#723)
* refactor(z-index): introduce a shared named z-index scale

Replace scattered magic z-index numbers (100, 150, 200, 201, 250) with
named layers (z-app-bar, z-app-bar-elevated, z-modal, z-menu-elevated)
so intent is documented at each call site and future additions insert
predictably instead of colliding.

Defined via Tailwind's @utility directive in two places that mirror
each other: packages/ui/src/index.css (ui:-prefixed, for components
that live in the @cio/ui package) and apps/dashboard/src/app.css
(unprefixed, for dashboard-only files) — a ui:-prefixed custom utility
only compiles if it is also used somewhere under packages/ui/src, so
dashboard-only usages need the unprefixed twin.

Also fixes two pre-existing dropdown/select menus (tags-admin.svelte,
mark-exercise-modal.svelte) that used ui:z-[250], which never actually
compiled to any CSS rule since nothing under packages/ui/src used that
exact class.

Co-authored-by: Rotimi Best <rotimi-best@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(ui): safelist the packaged z-index scale so it always compiles

@utility only emits a class when Tailwind's scanner sees that exact
candidate under packages/ui/src, so ui:z-app-bar-elevated and
ui:z-menu-elevated were documented but silently missing from the
compiled @cio/ui CSS since nothing inside the package itself used
them. Safelist all four layers via @source inline() so the shipped
scale always matches what's documented, regardless of which layers
this package happens to reference internally.

Rotimi Best 8c14bfad45 fix(exercise): show correct submitted state and real questions for students
exercise.svelte was auto-adding a QUESTION_TEMPLATE to the store whenever
questions were empty, which raced with hydrateExercisePageData.
applyMySubmission fired with the blank template in place, set
isFinished=true, and the guard prevented re-application once real
questions loaded.

Two fixes: guard the auto-add effect with isOrgStudent (students never
need to add questions), and gate applyMySubmission on isExerciseLoaded
so it always waits for hydrateExercisePageData to populate real questions
first.

Also fix off-by-1 in applyMySubmission (questions.length → questions.length + 1)
so currentQuestion is undefined at end-of-exercise, satisfying the
isFinished derived. Clear questionnaire.questions in onDestroy to prevent
stale questions flashing on the next exercise.

Fix lesson delete not updating sidebar/content list by filtering the
removed lesson from sections on success.

Rotimi Best 81294a47f9 feat: live class sessions, CE workflow, and docs (#683)
Adds live-class session scheduling on lessons (join link, date/time,
timezone) with automatic 24h and 1h reminder emails plus a calendar
invite (.ics), a time-change notification with an updated invite, a
teacher-authored welcome email and session invite on enrollment, and a
"Notify students" quiz nudge.

LMS gets an upcoming live-sessions card and Join buttons, plus a
reusable live-session card component (3 states) in @cio/ui with a
Storybook story. The sidebar content tree now reflects sequential
progression locking like the content list, and the course-completion
confetti regression is fixed.

Org-based emails no longer reference ClassroomIO by name. Docs add
live-class, welcome-email, and course-progression guides, expand the
certificates guide (design, signatures, corrected labels), move
plan-required callouts to the top, flatten how-to-guides to the docs
root with redirects, and add screenshots. Includes an add-docs-image
skill.

Rotimi Best 52d9bf18c3 feat: add sequential progression and video watch lesson completion
Gate student content by completion order, track per-video watch progress
with seek enforcement, and auto-complete lessons at the configured
threshold. Show ring progress in the lesson header, keep watch progress
on rewatch, and sync progression locks client-side so the next item
unlocks after completion.

Rotimi Best d5b07d356e feat: HLS streaming, transcripts, agent course generation & landing-page course previews (#663)
New features:
- HLS video encoding/streaming (hls routes, hls-encoder) and a media
transcripts pipeline (transcripts route + media-transcript queries)
- AI assistant chat vs. run model: agent-course-generation worker/queue,
  run-monitor pane, chat-changes card, content ask-ai bar
- Per-theme course-page previews across org landing-page themes (bold,
classic, corporate, editorial, etc.) with a shared course token/component set
- View-as-student mode and login-link / link-invite invite flows

Refactor:
- Extract packages/core consolidating config (env, storage, dashboard-url),
services and utils previously duplicated under apps/api/src/config
- Remove legacy agent service modules (chat-tools, chat-context,
  context-window, document, fetch-url, lesson-content)
- Relax Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy to allow cross-origin media embedding
- Add format script to tenant-router so turbo run format covers it

* fix(course): use courseTeamMemberMiddleware for PUT, DELETE, and analytics routes

These routes require admin/tutor role per JSDoc but were using
courseMemberMiddleware which allows any course member including students.
Switch to courseTeamMemberMiddleware to restrict access to ADMIN/TUTOR
group members and org admins.

* feat(dashboard): make CSP external domains configurable via env

Move hardcoded external domains from svelte.config.js to .env configuration
for on-premise deployments with strict security policies, data residency
constraints, or CISO-driven allowlists.

- ALLOWED_EXTERNAL_DOMAINS: single list for all CSP directives
- CSP_SCRIPT_SRC_DOMAINS, CSP_STYLE_SRC_DOMAINS, CSP_CONNECT_SRC_DOMAINS,
  CSP_FRAME_SRC_DOMAINS, CSP_FONT_SRC_DOMAINS: per-directive override
- When unset, defaults retain current SaaS behavior (backward compatible)

* chore: unify exercise answer data format

* feat: make selfhosting run under one org for simplicity (#647)

* feat: implement self-hosting PRD + license key system

Self-hosting single-org:
- Add PUBLIC_IS_SELFHOSTED to API env, block org creation when org exists
- Auto-add non-members as students in GET /account bootstrap
- getOrgSiteInfo: root domain returns single org for self-hosted
- App init: route to /lms when self-hosted + no orgs

Invite-only signup:
- Add settings.signup.inviteOnly via ZUpdateOrganization
- Allow public signups toggle in org auth settings
- Signup page: hide form when invite-only and no invite context
- Landing page nav: respect inviteOnly for signup link

First signup auto-verify:
- Self-hosted first signup (no orgs) auto-verifies email in createProfileHook

License key system:
- LICENSE_KEY, LICENSE_VERIFICATION_URL for external verification API
- Feature gates: SSO, token-auth, no-tracking (PostHog/Senja)
- requireLicense middleware for API routes
- Dashboard: license store, gate PostHog/Senja/SSO/token-auth UI
